Birthdays!

I try to make all of my kids birthday cakes, at least the last couple years. They all picked the kind of cake they wanted then I went to work.

Ali (9) wanted a High School Musical cake, this is similar to a picture of a cake she liked on the internet.

Chase (13) is really into the guitar and so of course he wanted a guitar cake. This cake was life size...it was not quite what he wanted but he seemed to be pretty happy with the final product.

Hayden (2)...of course my boy wanted Bobby! That is what he calls Spongebob. I was a litte worried he would be upset when we cut into his Bobby cake but he was ready to eat, so he wasn't the least bit upset we cut his bobby cake.

I do like to bake but it is a good thing that the kids birthdays only come once a year. I have a year to plan and get ready for the next round of cakes. I tend to have to work hard to make them look good as I am nowhere close to being a pro. Its exciting to see how excited they get when they see the cakes for the first time.

The Christmas Story!

I know everyone has seen the Christmas Story. This is my version of the coat scene. Chad likes to take the kids sledding behind the 4-wheeler. So of course they got all bundled up. I knew I had taken it overboard when poor Hayden fell flat, face down on the living room carpet. I knew the poor kid was gonna be warm enough.

My First Hunting Trip

I finally found my USB cable so I could get my pictures off my camera. So here are the pictures I took during my first hunting trip. We did not see one deer. It was super cold and foggy. It was the first snow of the year. There were so many hunters out and I think a combination of the cold weather and too many hunters was the reason we didnt see anything. We did however see 3 moose that day. 2 bull and 1 cow. Chad and I went around a bend and stopped and in front of us was the bull and the cow. They sat there and stared at us. The pics of that did not turn out well, but later we came back and went up another trail and we ran into the bull again. It paced along side of us for quite awhile despite our efforts to speed up and slow down to get in to run off. It was cool but scary, I though to myself we would be in big trouble if that thing charged us.

A day in the life

We have all had the flu bug this past week. As it has slowly made its way through our family, it made me think of the times that were not so miserable. I thought it would be fun to start out this blog with a picture of Ali playing dress up. She did her own make-up.
